Strain Review: Acapulco Gold by Barneys Farm

DESCRIPTION:

Acapulco Gold Feminized from Barney’s Farm is a very potent sativa dominant feminized marijuana seed rejuvenated by Barney’s Farm specialists. This strain was first mentioned in 1965 when it was described as a special grade of pot growing only in the vicinity of Acapulco, Mexico.

The color is either brownish gold or a mixture of gold and green. Gold in this phrase originally described the golden hue of the leaves on the marijuana plant, but later came to refer both to the high quality of the marijuana and to the especially high price it commanded.

Acapulco Gold became popular in the cannabis-smoking underground during the 1960s and 1970s. Her outstanding abilities to produce heavy yields of extremely powerful marijuana raised some serious concerns in the American and Mexican government which almost wiped out this strain at the end of the 70s by spraying paraquat (chemical powder) over all cannabis fields they could find. Although it is increasingly rare, Acapulco Gold is still grown in more remote areas of its native range.

Like the original namesake, these gorgeous, firm colas are flecked with gold and reddish brown, with very visible THC crystals. The intense fruit cocktail of flavors pack a strong sensation that really lingers. Acapulco Gold is sativa dominant, offering a long lasting high that balances upbeat effects with body-relaxing, stress reducing calmness.
